Major and Minor Houses
Dakkoni nobility are arranged into a two-tiered system that began informally and has since calcified into a fairly rigid distinction between the Major and Minor Noble Houses. Those distinctions began to be established during Tammarach’s rule and had fully solidified by Quintus’s. Major Houses are distinguished from Minor by their greater wealth and holdings, closer connections to the Royal House, and small standing armies of vassals who are under the command of the head of the House.
Heads of Major Houses are styled “Lord” or “Lady” followed by their House name. Heads of Minor Houses take the style “Sir” or “Dame,” followed by their House name. With the exception of the houses which hold the baronies of Riven, Orran and Riversend, all Major Houses hold their main residencies in Easar. In total, including the Major Houses which hold the baronies, there are ten Major Houses. They are:
House Orran of Orran (human)
House Kaldashar of Riven (human)
House Stygia of Riversend (tiefling)
House Saborin (elf and half-elf)
House Miden (human)
House Tarahel (human)
House Diadylix (elf)
House Seaspear (halfling)
House Tarrant (human)
House Sidaril (elf and half-elf)
There are a number of Minor Houses in each city, and there are many which have holdings in
multiple cities. In total, there are close to thirty Minor Houses.
